Biography

Pastor Charles Hodge accepted the call to ministry as a teenager while serving as a lay leader and teacher at the New Hope United Methodist Church in New River, VA. After graduating from Radford University with a BA in Journalism and a BS in Religion, he began his pastorial ministry at the Franklin Street Church in Wytheville, VA. After moving to Northern Virginia, Charles served as an associate minister at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. As an associate minister he worked in various capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, Assistant Director of the Baptist Training Union (BTU), Vacation Bible School Director, bible study and Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Laymen’s League.

Charles and his wife, Shannon Hodge, married in May 1997 and they have enjoyed over 25 years of marriage. Their union has also been blessed with three amazing children--Victoria, Joshua, and Elise.

In May 2016, Charles Hodge began to serve at the Cartersville Baptist Church in Vienna, VA during the absence of their pastor. In October 2016, the members of Cartersville selected him as their new pastor. Charles’ passion and dedication for God’s Word is exhibited in his weekly sermons, along with the Sunday school and bible study lessons. As pastor, Charles has developed the motto “Cartersville WINS” which simply means that the church is dedicated to Worshiping, Instructing, being Neighborly, and Serving. Having recently reached one and a half years of service at Cartersville, Pastor Hodge is excited, inspired, and looking forward to many more years of pastoring the great congregation of Cartersville Baptist Church.

Personal Mission

My hope is to continue overseeing the fulfillment of Cartersville Baptist Church's vision to the highest standard in the years to come. I pray to be used perpetually as a vessel to Christ's glory and convey his message to all who will hear.

The responsibility of a true leader is not to exalt himself, but rather to build up those around him. This precedent was set by our lord and savior, Jesus Christ, and it is my mission to follow his example.
